International Competitiveness of UK Manufacturing Study - 2006

In the latter part of 2005 and early 2006, Benchmark Research, supported by the DTI and Works Management, conducted a study of International Competitiveness in the UK engineering industry. The survey was based on 316 interviews with UK engineering companies with the aim of investigating how the industry was responding to the challenges of global competition. The research results are now available in the form of a detailed report that clearly highlights the ways in which the strategies followed by the most profitable and fastest growing UK engineering companies differ from the majority in terms of R&D, production and sales & marketing.

The full report can be purchased for just £75. Simply click on the title above to find out more.

    e-Business in UK Manufacturing 2002

The survey, based on the opinions of some 1800 key decision makers, shows that "collaboration" represents the critical business application that e-business will need to deliver.

Large organisations are clearly driving the adoption of e-business solutions in their supply chains. Smaller organisations appear slower to change but will certainly need to do so in order to be able to trade with large companies in the future. Some multinationals are already beginning to view the ability a supplier to trade electronically as a basis for selecting their sub-contractors.
